2008 League Rules

 

1. Match Starting Times

 

Matches will start at 9.30am unless the two Clubs have previously agreed a different time. All team pairings must have started play within thirty minutes of the agreed starting time. Failure of any pairing to do so will automatically result in the loss of that game(s).

 

2. Matches & Games

               

Each Match will consist of three foursomes games. One point will be awarded for each game won and half a point for each game halved. One point will be awarded to a team who wins the Match and half a point will be awarded to a team for halving a Match. Pairings will be drawn for order of play; once the draw has been made there will be no substitutions allowed. All games will be played off scratch, over eighteen holes.

               

3. Abandoned Matches

               

In the event of an abandoned Match, games will resume at the same score and place where they were, when abandoned. The resumed Match must contain a minimum of 5 players from the original Match, with players playing in the original pairings and games.

 

4. League Positions

               

When teams are tied on equal points, league positions will be decided on the team winning the most points in the Matches between the teams tied. If still equal, there will be a ‘play-off’, played on a neutral venue, with each game played to a finish, i.e. (no halved games).

 

5. Local Rules

               

All matches will be governed by the 2008-2011 R&A Rules of Golf and any local rules enforced on the day of the Match, except that the use of GPS and other distance measuring devices in Oxfordshire Foursomes League, or Knock Out is not permitted, even if clubs have local rules allowing use in their own competitions.  Penalty for use of such a device will be loss of the individual leg where such a device is used.

 

Teams are also reminded that under rules of golf matches must be played from defined teeing grounds with 2 markers and not a single stone marker.

 

If there are more than two temporary greens in operation, either team will have the option to cancel the Match and notify the Internet Coordinator.

 

6. Players

               

Players can only play for one League Club during one playing season. If any Club is found guilty of playing an ineligible player, the offending team will forfeit the points won in the match and also be deducted four points.

 

7. Fixtures

               

Any club not present at the AGM & Fixtures Meeting must confirm in writing by 1st January prior to the season commencement, that all their fixture dates are suitable. Failure to do so may result in a warning after the first re-arranged game and a one point penalty for each game thereafter.

 

8. Results

               

It is the responsibility of the Home team Representative to complete the Match Result Card and enter the results into the Internet, by 6:00pm on the Monday following the match being played. Failure to do so will result in a one point deduction of the Home team on the second occasion and on every occasion thereafter. The match result card must be retained by the home team until the end of the season in case of results dispute. Postponed fixtures should be reported on the Internet.

 

Postponed fixtures must be rearranged by agreement between the two Clubs and the rearranged date reported in advance to the Internet Coordinator. Any Team deemed responsible for the unnecessary postponement of a fixture may be deducted four points.

 

9. Formation of League

               

Any Club wishing to join the League, should apply in writing to the Secretary at least 14 days before the ‘AGM-Fixtures Meeting’.  Applications will be discussed and approved at the AGM.

 

10. League Committee

               

The Committee will consist of an elected Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer, plus all Section Representatives. The Committee must contain a minimum of one representative from each Section of the League. Each Committee Member will need to seek re-election after serving three continuous years. The League Committee will consist of a minimum of six members. All Committee decisions will be final.

 

11. Annual Subscriptions

               

Annual Subscriptions should be paid by 1st April. Any Subscriptions not received by the Treasurer by this date may result in the offending Club being excluded from the League.

 

 

2008 Knock Out Rules

 

 

1. Entry to Knock out Competition

 

All Clubs that are members of the ‘Oxfordshire Foursomes League’ will be eligible to enter one team. The cost of entering the Knock out competition will be £10, payable by the same date as the League subscriptions (April 1st). Non-payment by this date will assume no entry to the Knock out competition.

 

2. K.O. Draw

 

Each round will be drawn at random, the first Club drawn having home advantage; the draw will be posted on the Internet. It the responsibility of all Clubs to check who they have been drawn to play, and to arrange a date for each round. Each round will have a date by which it needs to be played. (Failure to do so may result in disqualification). The final will take place at a neutral venue, arranged by the Committee.

 

3. Fixtures

 

Games will be drawn as per League matches. Each round will be contested by three matches of scratch Foursomes. In the event of the result being level, the game that is tied will play ‘sudden death’ to a finish, or if all 3 games are tied the third match will sudden death’ to a finish..

               

4. Results
